The woman from elections actually called me back. Our district is using machines from Sequoia.

The machines do produce a paper trail, but the paper trail is not voter verifiable.

Still, I've given my opinion, been partially reassured, and done what I set out to do.

I found out last night that our voting machines were paperless. This is a bad thing, and my wife was spunky enough to complain about it. So, I called my local board of elections. The supervisor was busy, but I was told she'd call me right back.

Riiiiiight. I'll call back tomorrow.

Some of my faithful readers (ie my wife and myself) may be wondering why I'm taking this diversion in my laid back radicalism to call and complain about paperless voting machines.

There are two reasons:

1) I don't plan to follow up as thoroughly as with the Medicaid issue

2) because of number 1, it means a simple phone call (or 2) won't take much time
